BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors of the SME Equity Fund comprises five directors, half of which are nominated by the Government of Mauritius and the remaining half by the Mauritius Bankers Association (MBA).

Representative of MBA

Mr. Dominic Provencal is the Deputy Head of Retail since August 2017. He is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) who has worked at the Mauritius Commercial Bank Ltd for the past 20 years. In these two decades, he has occupied various key roles in different strategic business units of the bank, contributing to the definition and implementation of some vital business and technical projects.

Mr. Provencal has worked as a branch manager (2005 – 2008), Business Development Manager (2009 – 2016), and as Head of Individual and Business Banking (2016 – 2017).

Mr Tamoodeeren Kathapermall holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration, an MSc in management, and a master’s degree in accounting. He is a member of the Certified Practicing Accountants of Australia and the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants. Mr Kathapermall has worked as Accounts Manager at Cattles Ltd (UK) and as Strategic Planning Analyst at Air Mauritius Ltd.

He has also worked as Senior Accounts Manager at the Mauritius Research Council before joining the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development where he is currently Senior Analyst. Mr Kathapermall is also Secretary of the National Resilience Fund.

Mr Goburdhun G.O.S.K is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and holds a MSc in Finance form University of Mauritius. He has extensive experience in the field of accounting and finance. He is registered with the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants (MIPA) as “Professional Accountant”.

Mr. Goburdhun is currently the Managing Director of The State Investment Corporation Limited (SIC) and holds directorship on various SIC Investee Companies, including Air Mauritius Ltd, Lottotech Ltd and Casino Companies. In the past, he was in public practice as a Chartered Certified Accountant providing services relating to Accounting, Auditing, Management & Tax Consultancy and Corporate Secretarial Services. He also held Chairmanship on various Government-related companies/institutions such as MauBank Holdings Ltd, MPCB (now MauBank Ltd), National Pensions Board and Responsible Gambling and Capacity Building
of the Gambling Regulatory Authority.

Mr. Jaywant Pandoo

Mr. Jaywant Pandoo joined the Development Bank of Mauritius Ltd on 20 April 2020 as Managing Director after a successful career spanning some 37 years at the Bank of Mauritius, the central bank of the country. At international level he was, until March 2020, a member of the Board Audit Committee of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation which is headquartered in Malaysia.

Mr. Pandoo is a fellow of the Association of the Chartered and Certified Accountants (FCCA), Glasgow, UK and holder of a
masters in Banking and Finance.

Mr. Karamchand Sathebajee

Mr Karamchand Sathebajee, also known as Sunil, is the Head of Business and SME Banking at Bank One Limited.

He reckons more than three decades of experience in the banking sector. Having spent more than 30 years working in the banking field, he has gathered a wide spectrum of experience in areas like Credit Risk, Retail Banking, Business and SME Banking, Corporate Banking, International Banking and Recovery. He has also assumed senior managerial positions which include Head of Recovery, Head of Loans and Advances and Head of Credit Risk.
Mr Sathebajee holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Heriott Watt University, Scotland, U.K
